The City of Urbana Office of Human Rights and Equity and the Juneteenth 2024 Committee enthusiastically announce an event in honor of the Juneteenth holiday!
The event, “Juneteenth 2024: Reflections and Reverence Ceremony,” occurs at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Urbana City Hall. This public event will feature a very special program in the Council Chambers. Also, the day will include an exhibit and tabling in the lobby. Doors will open at 11 a.m.
“Following the inside portion of the program, we will invite attendees to head outside for a Juneteenth flag raising ceremony,” Carla Boyd, Human Rights and Equity Officer for the City of Urbana, said. “A great strength of Urbana is the richness in diversity of its residents and their histories. The City once again recognizes Juneteenth as we continue to promote a strong and inclusive community.”
