Guido Sinclair (December 1935-July 7, 1992)
Guido Sinclair was a jazz alto saxophonist born Sinclair Greenwell, Jr. in Texas. In 1944 he moved to Los Angeles. He was a founding member of Horace Tapscott’s Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra in 1961 in Los Angeles and played in the group until the mid-1980s. In the 1970s he moved to Chicago where he also performed with such musicians as Von Freeman, later relocating to Champaign-Urbana, where he was a frequent performer at Nature’s Table. His archives also hold 60-70 lead sheets composed by him during his time in C-U.
