Terry Marshall (December 8, 1955-August 20, 1991)
Terry Marshall was a keyboard player, producer and composer. He attended public schools in Champaign, where he was born, and Chicago and attended UIUC. While at the University he accompanied the UI Black Chorus and played the organ for Bethel A.M.E. Church. He composed music for Rain Pryor, Ronnie Laws, and the movie “Talkin’ Dirty After Dark.” Marshall played with the Chicago soul group, The Emotions and was one of the organizers, in 1979, of the group Maxx Traxx Funk Jazz, also called Third Rail. In 1980 he co-produced and arranged an early rap recording, Casper’s Groovy Ghost Show. Marshall also composed and recorded with Natalie Cole and was co-owner of Production Studios in North Hollywood, CA.
